Neuhaus, Ruth (Marriage - 19 Oct. 1940)
The Evangelical and Reformed church at Curtiss was the scene of a pretty fall wedding Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock when Miss Ruth Neuhaus and Edward Cammers, both of Lake Geneva, exchanged marriage vows during a service performed by Rev. S. A. Schmiechen of Colby, Wis. The choir sang two vocal selections.
The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Neuhaus of Lake Geneva and the bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cammers of Glidden.
The bride was attired in an entrained gown of white satin with a long veil of tulle which fell from a crown of seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of baby chrysanthemums.
Miss May Ware of Prentice was maid of honor and Misses Helen Koerner of Winnetka, Ill., and Marion Neuhaus of Dorchester were the bridesmaids. Lavern Neuhaus, a brother of the bride, was best man and the other attendants were Sylvester Gayken of Lake Geneva and Clarence Cammers, Unity, Wis. Miss Ware wore a gown of lilac colored taffeta and and Miss Koerner and Miss Neuhaus were gowned in pale pink and blue taffeta respectively. They wore wrist corsages to match their gowns.
Miss Arlene Witmare of Riplinger and Delores Strade of Curtiss were flower girls and were dressed in pink satin and carried bouquets of baby chrysanthemums. Harold Strade of Curtiss was ring bearer and carried the rings on a pink satin pillow.
After the ceremony, 275 guests were entertained at dinner at the home of the bride’s grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerhart Neuhaus. A dance was given in the evening at Wiedenhoeft’s pavilion and at midnight lunch was served.
The newly married couple will reside at Lake Geneva where the groom is engaged in carpenter work.
Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Amos Miller of Rhine Center, Miss Linda Koerner of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Oehldrich, Elmer and Harvey Oehldrich and Gilbert and Harry Neuhaus of Cleveland, Mr. and Mrs. George Grunewald of Sheboygan, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Huebner of Chippewa Falls. Mr. and Mrs. Elsworth Gayken of Prentice, Clifford Kayken and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Neuhaus of Lake Geneva and many friends from nearby towns.
